He launched ZEE5, the flagship OTT of Zee Entertainment, across 170+ countries covering market entry, distribution, content strategy, subscription & monetisation strategy, product & payments strategy and legal/compliance for all markets. He was managing the fin-tech business of Essel Finance (financial services business of Zee group) covering insurance aggregation, mutual funds and personal finance before it was sold by the group in 2019. What are Rohit Chadda’s successful ventures?
His first successful venture was foodpanda.com, the world’s largest food ordering platform. He introduced and developed online food delivery into one of the fastest growing ecommerce verticals in 40+ countries across Asia, Middle East, Europe and South America when the category was virtually non-existent at the time in emerging markets. Foodpanda was acquired by its global competitor Delivery Hero.
From the success of foodpanda, Rohit Chadda realised another untapped opportunity in the delivery payments space. This led to the launch of his fin-tech startup PayLo. Through PayLo he tried to solve the lack of payment acceptance infrastructure in emerging markets. He acquired Ruplee, one of the largest in-restaurant payments app and pivoted the business into the region’s first omni-channel payments platform – PayLo POS. Having received a warm reception in the wake of demonetisation in India, PayLo expanded successfully to 10,000+ merchants before being acquired by Immortal Technologies.
